  • Starting the organization from scratch, providing effective leadership to maintain the overall smooth running of the organization
  • Phase One (Complete): Establishing a robust and thriving Youth Development Centre, including community Conferencing, counselling service and Sure Start Children’s Centre
  • Phase Two (Ongoing): Forming a growing team of staff and a strong team of motivated volunteers
  • Phase Three: Building and developing a multi-purpose sports initiative
  • Phase Four: Housing project established and growing following successful negotiations with the local council and other partners

  • Successfully negotiated and established over 10 youth centres and transfers from County Council into organization with hundreds of staff seconded over.

September 2001 – 2008, Acting CEO/Housing Manager – YMCA Southampton

  • Responsible for managing the whole housing operations and related finances and deputizing for the CEO when required
  • Implementing and empowering key-working and planned resettlement plan, involving extensive cooperation with users, staff and volunteer workers, the Board and YMCA colleagues at regional and national levels
  • Leading the affairs of the Association in accordance with its policies and procedures, requiring close liaison with the Board in order to meet their objectives
  • Developing a new staff team of over ten staff and volunteers, with a new structure and providing training and mentoring as required to ensure a competent and knowledgeable workforce – achieved through support from Transitional housing benefit which resulted in more support for people funding
  • Representing the YMCA and Christian Charity at senior levels, cultivating and maintaining effective relationships with the community, religious and business leaders locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Chairing the supported housing forum, ensuring appropriate agenda, coordinated meetings, following up all actions and communicating with all involved to ensure successful outcomes.
